Vektor, a division of the Denel Group, was established in 1953 as part of LIW. During September 1997 Vektor became a separate division in the Ordnance Group. Throughout its history the company has continued to grow and develop the nature of its business so that it is now primarily a premier manufacturer of infantry weapons for the law enforcement, defence and commercial markets.

The core business of Vektor is the development, manufacture and marketing and maintenance of high-quality commercial and combat-proven military products for the domestic South African and export markets.

The product range is diverse and the following high-quality combat-proven products are offered to clients: Pistols for law enforcement, self-protection and sport, of which the SP1 and CP1 pistols are the best known. The CP1 recently has received excellent editorial coverage in American publications. Assault rifles, of which the CR21 is the latest addition to the existing R4, R5 and R6 range. Machine guns, including the SS77 that has been extensively battle proven under local South African conditions. A large quantity also has been exported to several international clients. Rapid Fire canons in various calibres. Mortar systems. Barrels for rifles and canons. Hunting rifles in all popular calibres.

Besides its extensive product range, Vektor also offers excellent engineering facilities. The company places a great deal of emphasis on quality and the company is accredited to the international ISO9001 quality standard.
